Hommage to Skiaparelli, part 2 / How fashion repeats through époques or are couturiés inspired by their childhood?

There is a hypothesis that fashion repeats every 100, 50 and 25 years. It is easily proved: nowadays we are watching the Dowtown Abbey, 70s and 90s are in fashion.

Same was 10 years ago (-10 years for all periods respectively) : long dresses, 60s and a lil’ bit of 80s.

In 90s, and 1910s fashion was considered as oddy, not fashionable, but 20s were highly fashionable. Funny, but both décennies are marked with an acceptance of the most short skirts ever... oh, the temptation is so high to follow this topic... but let's finish first with Skiaparelli.

For me Elsa was clearly inspired by 1910s, where some original drapings were in fashion and by 1880s with tournure. All these will be completely forgotten in 1940s and 1950, but them 30 years later, in 60s someone called Balenciaga will be inspired by Skiap, and again, 30 years later, someone called Alexander McQueen.... but we'll talk about them and Skiap influence later. Now just watch.

1890s, 1910s of Jeanne Paquin, Paul Poiret mid 30s and (ta-da!!!), Skiaparelli 1939, Balenciaga 1962.

P.S. Not sure if anyone reads my blog, but if you do, I'll make a french version for you later, ladies, if you wish.
