Studying, working and fashion in 1910s

I remember I promised you, honies, another Balenciaga esthetic orgasm post. Last year we had a terrific exibition on Balenciaga, need to upload these photos. Oh, us - is in Calais. This is a terrific town where I live, I love it very much and we have many amazing thing happening there.

So today is off-topic JUSTBECAUSE. Let's get back to 1910s. What is very dear to my feminist heart is that in 1910s a women costume was invented close to its contemporary version, then it was polished to its perfection in 30s and 40s. 20s are not quite representative, but still I found a nice exception, just for you, in the next post. Back, back to 1910s.  The invention of modern look. A city look, more suitable to the époque of tramways and first cars. Dissapering of corsets and tournures (fake busts, fake asses and fake waists - pretty feminist, isn't it), excessive flower decorations, too much puff in sleeves and hairstyle.  It introduces us the major changes in modern female look.

Look here. We are not in 1910s yet, it's 1909, haha, but you can see here the birth of the costume changes underlined below

1910s - modern look

So these changes precisely are:

1) wearing large and practical skirt-pants that look like modern slacks, and not in the circus or transgender clothing. Yet need to mention it was not a city-look, it was countryside look, related to sport or to managing other argicultural/technical property ;

2) wearing straight jackets ;

1910s - straight jacket summer

1910s - straight jacket

3) regular wear of blouse+skirt separately.

1910s - daywear blouse and skirt

1910s - daywear blouse and skirt 2
